The Centre for Research and Documentation (CRD), Kano organized a Town Hall Meeting in Tudun Wada Constituency of the Kano State House of Assembly

On 11th May 2013, the Center for Research and Documentation (CRD) Kano, organized a town hall meeting at Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano state, to educate the citizens on the functions of the legislature. The participants at the meeting were members of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), community leaders, the leadership of political parties at the local level, the representative of Tudun Wada local government district head, and the honourable Abdullahi Iliyasu Yaryasa, member of the State House of Assembly representing Tudun Wada Constituency.

The meeting was the first of its kind where participants had the opportunity to meet with the leaders of their constituency to interact and discuses matters of importance. The honourable member explained his responsibilities as a legislator as well as the major functions of the legislature which include making laws, oversight functions, representation and appropriation among others. The participants also had the opportunity to get certain issues clarified by the honourable member.  The meeting was the first step of creating a platform for sustained interaction between the legislator and his constituent. More town hall meetings will be organized in Tudun Wada Constituency in due course.
