CRD organizes Town Hall Meeting at Madobi

The Centre for Research and Documentation (CRD) kano on the 18th of April 2013 organized Town Hall meeting in Madobi Local Government where the Hon. Member representing Madobi constituency at the Kano State House of Assembly ( Hon. Zubairu Mamuda) was brought to an interface session with his constituents to discuss the functions of the legislator.

Amongst the participants were; the representative of District Head of Madobi, Imams, Wards Heads and the chairmen of four major political parties in the local Government ( PDP,CPC,ANPP), youth group, women  group religious leaders and physically challenge group in Madobi. The town Hall Meeting witnessed enthusiastic discussion. Majority of the participants maintained that the Town Hall meeting was the first in its kind. Issues such as understanding whose mandate is it on constituency project was raised. The legislator however made clarification saying constituency project is not a function of the legislators, but rather what each legislator does compliment the major functions of the legislator which includes, Law making, representation and appropriation. A number of issues were also raised in which the Hon. Member made elusive clarifications which provided better understanding of the legislatives functions, this however was one of the objectives of having the town hall meetings. In the end participants expressed their appreciation to CRD and NED. They crave for more opportunities of this sought in order to better understanding the works of democracy with the aim of sustaining democracy in Nigeria.
